DESCRIPTION:This workshop provides an overview of the legal requirements and best practices for serving families of infants and toddlers who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired within the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) system. Participants will explore the requirements of IDEA Part C (birth to three) and the transition to IDEA Part B (three and older), including eligibility for ECI and the local education agency (LEA), assessment and evaluation, development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), year-round service provision, and the transition from ECI to Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE).

Designed for teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, teachers of students with visual impairments, and certified orientation and mobility specialists, this workshop will strengthen participants' understanding of the roles and responsibilities of LEA providers within the ECI system and support effective collaboration with families and community partners throughout the early intervention and transition process.
