DESCRIPTION:Join Law-Related Education as we celebrate America 250. This institute focuses on the development of colonial self-government by exploring the importance of religion, documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation, and traditions, using strategies that increase student engagement. 
 
Join us for an engaging and enlightening professional development opportunity designed to empower educators in exploring the crucial historical transition from colonies to the birth of a new nation. Content will be explored with the aid of a scholar, and strategy implementation will be supported by facilitators with classroom experience. Our workshop aims to equip teachers with a deeper understanding of the events, ideas, and societal shifts that led the colonies toward independence.
 
Target Audience: 5th-grade, 8th-grade, and high school US History and Government teachers.
 
Engage in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and explore a wealth of curated educational resources to enhance your teaching toolkit. Participants will leave with practical strategies to bring history to life in their classrooms.
 
Elementary and Middle school breakout sessions will focus on lessons to support active engagement in the Colonization and Revolution units of study.
High School breakout sessions will help develop foundational connections with interactive activities and resources, and adaptable strategies for all content, and support AP US History and Government.
 
Registration is free, and lunch will be provided. Participants receive access to all materials upon completion of the course.
