DESCRIPTION:This session is open to participants who have attended an introductory DBQ session, have implemented a DBQ in their classroom, and looking for ways to take the next steps in teaching with DBQs. Continuing with the notion that DBQs can be used to teach historical thinking and literacy skills in a student-centered approach, this training will focus on ways to utilize bits-and-pieces of a DBQ unit in short one- or two-day lessons. The goal of these smaller lessons is to target and build skills. We’ll also take a closer look at student essays, scoring and grading, and how to advance that writing from good to great.
