DESCRIPTION:The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework can be considered the umbrella for other support systems, such as data-based individualization (DBI), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), response to intervention (RtI), and positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS). An effective MTSS framework considers the variability of learners, supports in place, and equal access to the general curriculum. Through MTSS, schools identify students needing additional support and provide them with evidence-based interventions to reduce academic and behavioral gaps. Social and Emotional Competence is part of that framework. In this session participants will be provided an overview of the Social and Emotional Competencies. Educators will explore the CASEL Framework, and how that framework can be applied to both students and teachers. Participants will also explore how to incorporate Social and Emotional Competence within academic instruction as part of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework. 

This session aligns with the FAPE and Intervention component(s) of the TEA-required self-assessment.
