DESCRIPTION:The 5 Practices of Mathematical Discourse are a systematic way to craft math tasks to promote student learning through student discourse. Aimed at bringing a voice to all students, this session will allow participants to experience the parts of successful discourse strategies. This will leverage Notice/Wonder, Which One Doesn't Belong?, and Same and Different as drivers for student success. Looking at each activity through the lens of 5 Practices of Mathematical Discourse, the participants will explore each activity as a student and as a teacher. This session will be hosted at Northwest ISD, Byron Nelson High School at 2775 Bobcat Blvd., Trophy Club, TX 76262. It is free for all Instructional Solutions and Support contract districts.
